This week is Antiques Week in Philadelphia. The Philadelphia Antiques Show, April 17 -20, will feature 50 dealers and a variety of period furniture, folk and fine art, ceramics, porcelain, silver, jewelry, and textiles. It will be held at the Navy Yard, 5100 South Broad Street. Free parking.
The 23rd Street Armory Antiques Show, April 16 -18, features 43 American and Continental antiques specialists in room-like settings. It will be held at the Armory on 23rd Street, between Market and Chestnut Street.
Both shows are excellent places to learn about antiques and art. Even if you do not plan to buy, the dealers are eager to share their knowledge with you. Unlike a museum, you can actually touch these wonderful pieces of history.
