Lower Hudson River Valley, Part 4 - Lyndhurst

The final day of our whirlwind weekend, we chose to drive through the park-like grounds of Lyndhurst. Plans for this Gothic Revival mansion were conceived in 1838. Located in Tarrytown, the house and grounds of this setting were used for several films, including two movies based on "Dark Shadows."

Even though there is an entry fee of $5.00/person, we found a number of people came equipped with chairs and picnic baskets to spend the day on the grounds. The property sits on the Hudson River and is delightfully scenic and relaxing. We discovered the bowling alley ( pictured below - no longer open to the public) beside the river.
