We chose the Inn at Mitchell House while visiting Chestertown, Maryland based on online reviews. I am very glad we did. I can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay. Tracy and Jim are the perfect hosts -friendly and helpful. The breakfasts are made to order, which I greatly appreciated. They were delicious and beautifully presented. The house itself is a marvel of early American history. It was great fun for me to imagine what life may have been like during the 18th century. The new wing of the house has very high ceilings, impressive for an early house. It also boasts 2 parlors chock full of interesting collections- so comfortable in the evening with a cup of tea and a book. The front to back entry way is wonderfully decorated with an array of mounted local birds and beautiful wall murals by Tracy. Our bedroom and adjoining bathroom were both large and well appointed with beautiful views of the expansive grounds. To the rear of the house is a large pond with a resident heron and a myriad of song birds. Peace and privacy are bywords to this lovely B&B. We cannot wait to return and continue our exploration of the Eastern Shore.
Egg white and Swiss cheese omelette - Yum!!
As we dined, a view of the Smoke House dating to 1600’s.
Rear view of the house with charming herb garden.
A slice of the large photogenic pond with many opportunities for creativity.
I couldn’t resist.
Friendly dogs, kept at bay, much to their chagrin!
